America Supports You

We would also like to thank those who stepped forward, and requested to be put on a standby list to adopt a local (Bay Area) military family for the holidays. The American Red Cross Armed Forces Emergency Services (AFES) committee also donated 40 $50 Albertsons Gift Cards, to be given to military families who could use a little assistance. In all, we were able to help over 2 dozen families by pairing them with civilian families, all anonymous and through military family readiness group leaders. Remembering that military families have needs throughout the year, we would like to be able to keep this grassroots program going all year round. If you would like to help, missed your chance at Christmas, or we did not need your services then, please feel free to send an email with your contact information to Julie at troopsupport@comcast.net and we will place you on a brand new, standby list. We have already helped three more families in 2006!

On SATURDAY JULY 1st, join us at Discovery Meadow in San Jose for music with the Greg Kihn Band, John Waite of the Baby's, Pat Travers, and Beatles tribute band The Sun Kings. Plus 75 arts & crafts booths, a huge kids area, lots of food and beverage booths, a side stage featuring the four Last Band Standing Under 18 finalists, and more...all for the advance price of $9.85 or $30 for a family 4-pack! Tickets are available NOW at all ticketmaster outlets and at Streetlight Records in San Jose (980 S. Bascom Ave. Between Moorpark Ave. and Stokes Street).  Tickets will be $15 each on the day of the concert, so don't wait! On TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th, our friends at Iron Construction, Inc. will be holding their third annual Iron Construction Charity Golf Classic, and they have chosen Operation: Care and Comfort as the recipient of the proceeds from the tournament. Last year, they raised over $20,000 for us, to ship Christmas packages! We had a fantastic day, golfing with sponsored foursomes from each branch of the military. We are looking forward to working with Iron Construction again in 2006. Mark your calendars!
